Something about PPC!!

So, let's talk about PPC (pay-per-click) today...

About PPC, it is said that if you use it wisely, you can make millions BUT if you don't, then say bye-bye to billions (ha! ha! i love how they use evil tones to create humor!!)

OK! so you think you have done your homework on how & what & where you will be putting up your ads using PPC...
I'm just here to give to some precautionary measures during your whole journey of PPC process.

To begin with, this thing is going to save you money in the long run. Make sure you avail it to the fullest; plan carefully.
So, what you need to do is to make an impressive landing page for your viewers; it is a key factor of making them stay & like. It should clearly & attractively be mentioning what are you offering & why should they choose you over others.

Most publishers are very peculiar about the things they advertise. If they find your ad to be unattractive or not very captivating for their traffic audience, they will simply remove it. Now that is a waste of efforts on your part, isn't it?? So, to avoid this thing from happening to your hard work, monitor the results of each of your campaigns & make amendments to them accordingly. Keep experimenting with the look & text of your ads to see which one gets the best response.

Some people might not consider this a very good thing but believe me, it makes a big difference. While creating your ad, do put up an action-call, like "CLICK HERE!!" or "GO NOW!!" etc. It will actually compel the person watching your ad to go click on it; rather than just reading through your ad & moving on to others.

Have a balanced sort of offers to be promoted in your ads. You will be spending a great deal of money on it, so you don't want any non-serious buyers to be the major portion of your traffic. Putting up loads of free deals will attract free-loaders only, but not putting up any discounted offers may make you loose your potential buyers. Be very very careful in your choice (just as Elmer Fudd goes, "Be vewy vewy quiet, i'm hunting wabbit...hahahaha!!").

While biding or choosing for a place to put up your ad, be among the highest bidders as being on the 1st page counts a lot. But do try to avoid the starting 2 or 3 positions, if you can; they are subjected to most accidental clicks (& you don't wanna end up paying for them now...do you??)

PPC has several advantages of marketing, you are only required to have a keen observation to notice them & make appropriate settlements for them.
So GOOD LUCK with your PPC!!

Why ask for Website Maintenance??

Hi,

I am the owner of a small jewellery business (& other fashion accessories). I started 5 years back from my friends' circle and in a very little time, i was famous in the local community. The next step was to give a bit more exposure to my business, so i made a fan-page over Facebook and Twitter. It helped a lot & i started getting orders online. I was very happy.

Someone suggested that i should make contracts with bigger companies & agencies. Now, that was an attractive thing to do. But it required a more professional approach...beginning with the development of a proper website.

I contacted a company to get me a website. It was a long process but i got what i wanted & it was beautiful. After deployment, they asked me if i wanted to go with their discounted maintenance package which is offered to clients along with website deployment. I was not sure what that was so i asked a friend.
"You have the website, you can manage it yourself. How hard can it be to manage? You've been managing your Facebook & Twitter pages for so long now, you can do it easily. Why waste more money?", was my friend's answer.

I took the advice & refused the offer politely (i want to mention here that i am not at all a technical person)...this was the 1st mistake i did in my business career.

For a few months, everything worked perfectly fine...& then something happened...something really bad.

My website had a login system too; i had a long list of members who received special offers based on their membership type.

After reaching a limit of 350, new members stopped getting added to my list. They were able to register, their membership payment was being deducted from their accounts but their information was not being updated in my records.

I discovered it when a client called me up. He was very angry. He said he called up to talk about his orders & my manager told him that he is not one of our members & is not allowed to have the deal he wanted. I apologized on my manger's behalf & checked the records myself but the result was the same. The client told me that he registered a week back under the golden membership category (OMG!!).

That was the 1st incident & many followed afterwards. I don't know for how long it had been going on. I tried every possible thing i could think of but still could not find what the problem was. Then someone told me to contact the website makers again. I reluctantly did (reluctant because i refused their maintenance offer back then). They agreed to look into the matter but obviously i had to pay full amount this time (bad luck!!).

They worked on my site & figured out something wrong with the database (that was what they called it). So, they had it all sorted out in 3 days.

I had to figure out who went missing from my records & send apology messages to them. So, the reason behind telling this story was that, technical or not technical, you should never ever ever turn down the maintenance offer from the company responsible for creating your website.

I was lucky that they agreed upon working out the problem in my website; otherwise, all would have been lost.

Importance of User Interface

I was feeling very bored...nothing to do...didn't feel like working either...
So, i decided to explore some random websites (maybe i'll get some ideas for my next design).
www.google.com >>> good websites >>> *Enter*
& a whole list of links was displayed in front of me...
Thus, i began exploring...
Liked a few!!
Few were OK!!
Some were great!!
Some were a disaster!!
....
I came across a very eye-catching site & my mind drifted off somewhere else.
I am a designer myself (a bit self-obsessed), what was so special in this site that even i got attracted?? I started noting down the things that were creating the whole impact.

1) the color combination used was very appealing...they matched so well with one another that the whole screen looked alive & in harmony (you can achieve the color sense with practice)

2) the arrangement of text & other stuff was very neat. All had separate sections but yet the screen wasn't looking crowded (it's a difficult task putting so much on a single screen without creating a mesh)

3) the navigation was pretty smooth (i bet my 7-year nephew can operate this very well)

I assumed that it would have been an expensive project...the design was, for sure, a custom design & not a simple design template copy (my experience told me that). I was really impressed with the insight of both the client & the designer. Usually, what happens is that when we sit down to design or instruct a designer to design something for us, we tend to follow something that we have seen somewhere (not very innovative). Later, we wonder why don't the viewers are impressed.

The reason is that whatever we have put up there for them is nothing new,; they've already seen part of it somewhere & the other part somewhere else. So, the basic point for getting a good UI is to think about the look yourself.
Picture how you want it to look like...
User friendliness is not the only thing (though it is very important), but there are other things that need to be combined together with it to get a proper, attractive interface.
Only a brilliant mind can live up to the innovation level of the designing phase of a website.

Story of a Logo

Hi bloggers,

I am a Logo...a logo that was designed!!
Now the story of my making might be very interesting for you, so i thought i might share it (oh come on!! please read my story).

Once there was a very brilliant mind (I'll tell you later why it was brilliant). One day that mind devised a plan to start with a new business. It worked out the details, sorted out permissions etc. etc. & then it began on how to best represent its marvelous idea. So, it started thinking...

It explored the basics of geometry...focusing on each type of shapes, lines, dimensions...twisting it here & tilting it there...
It went deep into the whirl pool of colors, looking at each shade, mixing up tones, creating combos...
&
Finally,
I was born as an idea (see, if "I" was the creation, it has to be a brilliant mind).

The mind then searched for another brilliant mind to transfer me into, so i can be made real (yes, a designer). It was hard for the mind to explain me in words or images as to how i looked (of course, i was so beautiful, no words or drawings can possibly match up to my beauty).
& so the poor mind tried & tried & tried...

Finally, the other mind got a glimpse of my beauty too. It agreed to work on making me a reality & sat down to work.

Boy, did i drive it crazy or what!!
It lost its sleep...it forgot the sense of hunger/thirst...the meaning of "fun" was lost for it.
All it could think was ME & only ME.
My beauty possessed it so bad that the sole reason of its life was to give life to me (yeah, i was like the Frankenstein...just more beautiful).

Then one day, its hard work paid off & my beauty was revealed completely to it...it was successful in giving me a final form.

My original creator (the brilliant mind i referred to in the beginning) had bursts of happiness inside it...it was so happy that tears ran out of the eyes of the person possessing it (ahh, silly fans!!).

As soon as i got linked up to the business, it bloomed & blossomed so quickly that everybody was shocked. My magic was so captivating that anyone who looked at me instantly felt the urge to make deals with the business i was representing.
So, i turned out to be lucky, as well as, very important for the business i was meant to represent.

Website Development - The Future - Our Future

People often ask us what we do
We say, "We develop websites.."
The next question, "Why websites...when you have a whole lot of other things to develop/build/construct"
The answer to this question is very complicated yet very simple, very elaborated yet very concise, very close to reality yet very philosophical.

In today's era there are people who are not aware of computers or internet or other technical gadgets and stuff. But if we take in account the younger generation today, their everyday tasks begin and end on technology. Now, they are the ones who hold the future.

Believe it or not, our future pioneers are getting used to the usage of gadgets for almost everything they do. So, keeping that in mind, we can clearly state that the future of the world totally resides on the world wide web. These websites that are just another means of communication and advertisement now days will clearly become the ONLY means of business in the near future.

Tell me how many times have you bought something just by seeing an advertisement over the television/radio or by reading about it in some newspaper/magazine or by hearing from your mates that this thing is good?
OR
How many times have you made deals with people you heard or read about via the above mentioned sources?
Of course, none!!
Somehow, we are now used to trust things only if we can find enough information about them over the internet or find their website for the better.

So, the websites we develop are the only important things that our upcoming generation will be inheriting from us. By making them better & efficient, we are setting up a good example for our future pioneers.

People who say websites are a waste of time; a time which according to them can be utilized in devising up an even better business or marketing strategy, should know that if they go against this flow, all their brilliant strategies & plans will be a wastage of time for their heirs.

That's why we develop website...so we can give something to the future...so we can make an impact on the future...so we can leave our mark in the future!!

Let's Change the World!!

You know we developers have the ability to change the world that you live in...wondering how...well, it's simple, by our developments.

Now you must be thinking that our developments are not even impactful enough to change our office environment (where we are tortured day & night), how on Earth can they possibly change the face of the world (underestimating us...hmm??). Let's take a quick tour of our access range:

Let us begin with the areas very near & dear to you...how about the little toy you hold in your hand for texting & making calls & gaming etc. etc. (talking about a simple cell phone here). It was us who provided you with all these facilities. Imagine if we hadn't worked on them...texting would still be writing letters...calls would still need a corded phone...games would still be out in the fields (Ha! i can see the color draining from your face).

Moving to the device you are using right now to read this (or earlier versions of computer). We made that happen too. If it wasn't for us, "browsing" wouldn't exist in any dictionary even. Your studies would totally be based on books & old journals & other stuff; your business would still be restricted to local zones or expensive tours (now you're really turning white).

OK let's move a little bit away from you. Take banks now...you know, where you keep your most precious assets. Suppose we devise a system that will transfer all the money in every bank of the world to our personal accounts, then you will be earning & we will be spending...or let us NOT provide you security & anyone can use up the money in your account (wooah, is that sweat on your forehead??). Imagine what will happen to your economy; rather, the world's economy.

Alright, let's go general (I'm sparing you the horrors of knowing every little detail of how you'll suffer if we wouldn't be around). Every little gadget you utilize, every little technological aspect you exploit is there because WE developed it & if it wasn't for us, you'd still be stuck in the stone age (there, felt a little heart-attack??).

So, as i was saying that we developers can change the face of the world you exist in (better not deny me this time). We have the ability, the power, the knowledge, the access, the rights, the tools & the techniques to mold your every day's life in whatever shape we want...
& we soon will someday
OK, I've to get back to my JAVA code (it's due today so changing the world has to wait)
But I'm telling you that we will change the world someday...someday soon!!

When all was lost...

It had been 12 hours now & i still had no clue as to what the problem was. I've checked every possible detail but could not find anything wrong...yet, there was something wrong.

When i started my work today, i had no idea i would be stuck over this; i had planned way ahead of this. I just had a cup of tea in the morning, thinking i'll have an early lunch but it was almost dinner time now & i hadn't eaten a bite all day long. My stomach was, instead, occupied with knots...anxiety knots.

What could have possibly gone wrong?? I had worked very carefully (was i that much sleepy last night to goof something up...no i don't think so...i was up for only 62 hours then...not a big deal).

I checked
& thought
& searched
& re-checked
& re-thought
& re-searched
but in vain...

Lord!! Help me pleeeeease...
My mind was an about-to-erupt-volcano (when you put in too much...it eventually comes out)
My eyes were ready to pop out of the sockets (i was literally licking the screen with my eye balls)
My index finger was about to be divided by 2 (scrolling the mouse up & down...it felt like i could never move my finger again)
My neck was about to CREAK!! & CRACK!! (a tensed mind definitely results in a tensed body)
My shoulders were about to run off from my body (or i could be the next Hunchback of Notre Dame)

Who on Earth advised me to become a developer?? If i were a photographer instead, i would be out enjoying the rain (yes, it was an awesome rainy day outside) & not stuck here with this erroneous code. If only i could find that person who dragged me in this field, I'd skin him alive...(oh wait, it was me myself...take my words back)

There was only 1 thing left to do...yes, worshipping the program to spare me the horror & reveal the Hidden Bug to me.
Now how do you worship a program?? (fingers scrolling the page up & down)
*blank* (fingers scrolling the page up & down)
OK that won't work...let's think of something else (fingers scrolling the page up & down)
*click*
i accidentally clicked at a line & the world was enlightened again...the dark clouds were gone...the sun was shining...the birds were singing
no wait, not outside...in my heart
I FOUND THE BUG
Yippee!!!
You Rock Man!!
with watery eyes, i kissed my hand that clicked the right spot & went back to work.

A Possessed Designer

There i was, feeling annoyed & angry because of what the light rays had transmitted through my cornea onto my retina & into my brain. At first, i thought that maybe the cons of my eyes have gone insane, but no (i can still see the green trees & the blue sky & a yellow sun & my dyed shirt...so my vision & color sense is perfectly alright), this can mean only 1 thing...the gigantic billboard in front of me was really a mesh of colors thrown randomly here & there (more like they let kids have a color fight over it).

I was standing under it with my head raised to a 45 degree angle for the last i don't know how many minutes (many people have stopped by my side to look up for whatever i was staring at so intently & have moved thinking that i might be from the family of Mad Hatter...the character, not Johnny Depp). I was unable to believe how a company having guts to advertise can come up with such a childish & non-professional advertisement for their product (yeah, i believe if you dare do something, you should do it right).

The colors were all wrong; the pictures were too randomly placed; the tag line was not prominent enough; the background should have been pink instead of red & that big "T" in the middle is not at all giving a perfect look...I would have done it way better than this...If only i knew who has designed it, i can knock some sense into that person...What was he thinking while placing those flowery borders on the right edge...the middle picture should have been in a sepia-tone...
My thoughts were getting far out of control.

BEEP!! BEEP!!
A car honked loudly behind me & brought my mind out of the whirlpool of what's been done & what could have been done.
Are you alright? I'm like calling you for the past 5 minutes... What are you so engrossed in??
My mom got out of the car & began her inquiry while looking up for the source of my distraction. I was eyeing her weirdly as if how can't she see how terrible the world has become (well for me it was sort of that way) but somehow she did not look bothered at all; instead, she seemed a bit worried (maybe scared too) by the look on my face. She grabbed me by the arm and pulled me towards the open car door, looking cautiously around to see if someone was watching us (maybe she thought I've been possessed or something).

She turned the car around & started driving with a worried expression on her face. I was still looking out the window up to that billboard. As the car turned, my head turned with it & now i was sitting on the front seat, tilted towards the back, still staring at the billboard from the back window.
Stop doing that!! came my mom's worried voice as she jerked my shoulder to make me sit straight. I obeyed silently.

But now i stretched out my hand & re-adjusted the side view mirror so that the board was visible to me through it. My mom shifted slightly to my side & lightly touched my forehead to check if my body temperature was normal (now she must be certain about me being possessed). I sat there, silently watching the billboard disappear behind me. My mind shouting that this means war; the tribe of designers has a traitor somewhere within who is planning of ruining our repute & future by polluting the minds of others about us. Something has to be done about it or all will be wasted...ruined...destroyed...

Color Therapy of Coding

People always feel that coding is tiring. Anything becomes tiring if your brain loses interest in it. So, i've got some facts that might change the way your brain looks at the act of coding.

I've seen developers disliking the variety of colors provided by various platforms while/for writing code as they think it’s distracting & girly (yup, the he-developers); some are very fond of it as they think it makes coding easier, convenient & less boring (she-developers falls in the latter part mostly).

& I’m afraid I agree with the latter team too; it really does makes coding easier and fun. But my purpose of writing this blog is going a little beyond the usual fight of looking good & bad…

Color Therapy is a very well-known method in medicine. Now as they believe that each color has a special impact on human body, so does the developers of those platforms (this is my personal believe).

Now see, as you write a single piece of code, how many impacts it has on your brain
Blue
Dark blue stimulates clear thoughts and light blue calm the mind and aid concentration (you won’t hit your screen in case you are stuck somewhere)

Red
It raises the pulse rate, giving the impression that time is passing faster than it is (you won't even know when it's time to go home)

Green
It gives you rest & makes you feel fresh (you won't go yawning all day long)

Orange
It focuses our minds on comfort level of our body (your body won't go slopping down the working chair)

Black
It communicates absolute clarity, sophitication & uncompromising excellence (you feel like the King of Coding World)

White
It gives a sharp insight of space (no matter how long codes you write, you'll always see room for more lines)

Yellow
It lifts our spirits & confidence; it makes us hopeful (you won't shut everything down if your solution is not working)

So you see, colors are good & if coding is bad then we all know that in the fight between good & bad, the good will always win
So cheers!!
HaPPy CoDinG!!
